WELCOME

Okay, so I'm not a fucking idiot. I know you've been on the internet before. I bet you think you outsmarted me. Well, I wanted to provide you with the bare basics of what you should be thinking about now that you're here. Bet you didn't think that's where this was going!

If you're online, advertisers and other bad actors are building a profile of you, right now! Some options at your disposal are to use a privacy-focused browser (such as Brave or TOR) or use an extension such as uBlock Origin, Canvas Blocker and No Script.

Your ISP is also spying on your traffic! We've gotten to the point where it's standard to force https connections (which will encrypt your traffic). This is definitely a good thing. If you wish to add some more layers, you can use a VPN and/or change the DNS routing of your browser.

TIP

With VPNs, buyer beware! By using a VPN you are trading your secrets from one party to another. Most free VPNs make their money by selling the data you're supposed to be hiding from your ISP. Also, make sure you only purchase from a service you trust. VPNs are helpful, but not impossible to circumvent, with enough of a will.

Now, if you're like a lot of people, you will want to consume content in the form of videos. SponsorBlock is a great tool for skipping the sponsors in YouTube videos. Its sister app DeArrow makes YouTube a little less shitty. You might want to consider modifying the app to not allow any ads of any kind. Just... putting that out there.

If you use e-mail (and who can afford not to, in this climate?), when you're signing up for services it makes a lot of sense to use an e-mail relay for any time you need it with a company or service or anything sketchy you don't want your e-mail given to. There are also similar services for your payment credentials (such as Privacy... not recommending, just the first name I could think of).

If you want more information on how to maintain your privacy (while we still can), visit the 'privacy' tab in the menu to the left. It's also recommended that you use a secondary app for multi-factor authentication (MFA) and a password manager (such as Bitwarden)to keep all of your secure passwords safe.
